In Coffee Ritz every batch of coffee beans undergoes a three-step quality control process:

-the initial separation of the green beans from the damaged ones,

-the UV-light check of the green beans and

-the final check right after the roasting

Coffee beans are hand sorted from damaged beans according to SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) set standards. Damaged beans impact coffee final flavor and taste, and for Specialty coffee it is important to follow the quality standards.

Low quality of green beans can be identified with UV light rays. Beans, which contain germs and bacteria have a bad effect on the taste of coffee, these beans  shine very brightly under UV light.

The coffee roasting is performed using high-grade hardware with digital control of the roasting process.

We use small size roasters – up to 2.5kg, which makes the quality control of the roasting process more precise and ensures the exceptional quality of the prepared Specialty coffee.

After the roasting process, we start the quality control check of the prepared coffee beans. At this step, our specialists carefully study the beans, determining the damaged beans with great precision, thus assuring the high quality of the finished product.

Why do we roast Specialty coffee?

-Exceptional quality – full process control

-Each coffee bag has a unique rich taste

-Green beans conform to SCA standards

-Traceability – country, region, farm plantation

One of the distinguishing features of specialty coffee is that we can learn where exactly the coffee grows (country and region), who the farmers or farmers association are, what processing method they used after the harvest (washing, dry process or honey process). It tells you the whole story behind it.

On every product in Coffee Ritz shop there is an indication of country, region and the farm or farmers association, where coffee beans are originated.

What are the most significant differences among coffee beans which we roast and offer for our customers?

Main characteristics to keep in mind are:

- region of origin

- processing methods of picked coffee cherries

- roasting level

- main tasting flavors and taste acidity

Coffee Ritz sources green coffee beans from all the continents that are included in The Coffee Belt, including Sumatra, Peru, Nicaragua, Kenya, Guatemala, Honduras, Ethiopia, Costa Rica, Columbia, El Salvador, Burundi. Each coffee lot has its specification of country, region, farm or farmers association. Each year coffee bean harvest is different because of the region weather. This is the reason why each coffee lot has unique tasting flavors each year – each harvesting season.
