Free Alongside Ship
Seller places goods next to carrier and is responsible for export clearance and costs up to this point.
Buyer is responsible for goods from loading onwards.
FOB
Free On Board
Seller moves goods to port and covers costs up to and including loading port charges.
Buyer collects the items from on board the ship.
CFR
Cost and Freigh
Seller invoices for the goods plus the cost of transport to the port of discharge (not including local charges).
Buyer collects from local port and arranges all further transport.
CIF
Cost, Insurance and Freight
Seller responsibilities are the same as CFR, with marine insurance added and paid by seller.
Buyer collects from local port and arranges all further transport.
CPT
Carriage Paid To
Seller is responsible for all costs up to the port of discharge.
Buyer collects from port of discharge.
CIP
Carriage And Insurance Paid To
Seller responsibilities are the same as CPT, with marine insurance added and paid by seller
Buyer collects from port of discharge.
DAT
Delivered At Terminal
Seller delivers to the destination port and unloads the goods from the carrier.
Buyer collects from destination port.
DAP
Delivered At Place
Seller responsibilities are similar to DAT, but is responsible up to and including export customs clearance.
Buyer collects from destination port and pays for import customs clearance.
DDP
Delivered Duty Paid
Seller delivers goods at named place, carrying all costs up to that point, including import duties.
